Located in East Troy Wisconsin, (Near Alpine Valley), Camp Edwards is a great venue that allows the use of low ropes courses, Separate housing for the boys and girls, great food, lodges and outdoor team problem solving stations and a lot more.

Speakers

Rick Metzger

Rick is a member of The Professional Speakers Association of Michigan, the National Speakers Association, and the National Speakers Association - Ohio, from whom he was awarded the 1993-1994 Distinguished Service Award and the 1995 Chapter member of the Year.

Rick's high energy fast-paced presentations will enlighten, entertain and empower all who hear him. His motivation, inspiration and special kind of humor make for a captivating program. He helps those in his audience understand that overcoming a challenge is very simple . . . if they want it to be.

Lincoln/Douglas

Abraham Lincoln, played by George Buss, and Stephen A. Douglas, played by Tim Connors deliver a stirring rendition of the famous Lincoln/ Douglas Debates.

Les Green

Les Green is currently director of cultural diversity, College of Education, St. Cloud State University. He received his undergraduate and master's degrees from the university and has been an instructor in human relations,  an adjunct professor in criminal justice and a special consultant. 

Les Green has received the David Preuse Servant Leadership Award, SCSU Honors Club, Professor of the Year and the Chairman's Award for Outstanding Services, National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice. 

Mia Fontaine

Best Selling Author, "Comback!"

In between Tolstoy and Twain, Mia worked with the Special Olympics, the Smithsonian Institute, and the National Geographic Society.  Near the end of her senior year, Mia was about to accept a job offer from National Geographic when her memoir found a publisher. Over the next year and a half, Mia and her mother wrote "Comeback!", voted April '06 favorite new biography and chosen by Target as their Winter '07 Bookmarked Book Club Pick.

Their appearances include Good Morning America, The Montel Williams Show and the O'Reilly Factor.

RYLA 2009 Critical Dates to Remember

December

Please provide the flyers and applications for RYLA to your Local High Schools.  If you need more, please contact me.

 Early January

Please follow up with schools to confirm they received the materials and have distributed the information to students.

 Mid January

Students are to complete applications by January 26, 2009.  Please pick up completed applications from schools.

February

All registration materials and checks sent to Sean Nelson for receipt NO LATER THAN February 28, 2009

****It is extremely important that the schools get this information in early December.  The students who attend RYLA tend to be extremely busy and need as much advance notice as possible.
