Sponsorship

The quote we here most often from students after the conference is, “this has been a, life changing experience”.  Rotary Youth Leadership Awards or RYLA is a training program for Leaders and/or potential leaders, freshman through senior in high school.  It is a tremendous opportunity for high school age participants to grow as both a leader and as a person.  For the past eleven years the program has grown from 35 participants to more than 160 annually.  We have helped more than 1,100 young adults learn how to better serve their schools, communities and country.

The Rotary District 6440 services 72 communities in the West and Northwest Suburbs.  There are more than 3,500 Rotarians in the District reaching more than 216 high schools.  The leadership conference goals are;
•    To help participants incorporate new concepts of leadership and citizenship
•    To have an opportunity to express new ideas and concepts
•    To experience the joy of learning teamwork
•    To become comfortable in expressing opinions in a group environment
•    To meet new friends and learn how to reach out and make new friends without the usual conventions (cliques, etc.).
•    To be challenged to “Return and Serve” their communities

The leadership conference is in part sponsored by individual Rotary clubs.  However, our ability to continue providing students with the same standard of excellence has caused expenses to outgrow most clubs ability to support and sustain this important program. The program’s popularity has caused explosive growth over the last five years. Although this is a great accomplishment it has created a need for help outside of Rotary alone.

With your help we can continue to “change the lives” of future leaders by exposing them to; two world renowned speakers, one best selling author and an expert in cultural diversity who come annually to speak, educate motivate and energize RYLA participants.  Will you please consider being a part of this, “life changing experience”.

Sincerely,

Sean Nelson
RYLA Chairman
